| SINGLE HAIR TRANSPLANTATION
Receding hairlines, thinning hair, and baldness can be successfully corrected with the procedure of hair transplantation. Portions of scalp are removed from the back of the head and transplanted to the front where the hair grows and never falls out. The new procedure of single hair grafts succeeds in creating a completely natural-looking hairstyle.

What’s new?
The ability to transplant single hairs in large numbers makes this procedure ideal for men and women of all degrees of baldness. Dr. Webb uses tiny follicular unit hair grafts. This allows a completely natural distribution of individual hairs that make transplants undetectable even when showering or with the hair blowing in the wind. If hair loss continues, hair transplants still look natural.
The hair to be transplanted is taken from the back of the scalp. This area never goes bald, so these hairs continue to grow when transplanted. The small incision in the area is closed with stitches to promote rapid healing. The scar is never noticeable since hair grows down over the area. The area removed from the back of the head is sectioned into tiny pieces each containing 1 to 3 roots. These hairs are then individually placed in the front or top of the scalp. These individual hairs can thicken areas of thin hair or create new coverage in completely bald areas. The newly transplanted hair begins to grow in 4 months.
Why Dr. Webb?
Working with an experienced trained team, Dr. Webb performs every surgery. We’ve been doing single hair grafts longer than any office in the area. But this is not a transplant mill or a franchise. Each patient gets a personalized approach, not a slick sales pitch. Because we do a variety of cosmetic procedures each hair transplant case gets a fresh start not a cookie cutter routine.
The Procedure:
Transplantation is carried out in the office where the patient spends several hours listening to music or watching TV. Medication is used to relax the patient, and local anesthesia makes the procedure basically painless. A bandage is optional.
After surgery there is usually only a little discomfort in the back of the scalp. The day of surgery, patients relax at home with their head elevated. The next day regular, light activity can be resumed. There is some swelling for the forehead a few days after surgery. Patients can shampoo gently, and the small scabs on the transplanted areas come off in 2 weeks.
Cost:
The cost of the surgery is quoted on a per-session basis in the range of several thousand dollars. This should be discussed with Dr. Webb. In a typical 3-hour session 400-600 grafts are placed at a cost of $3000. The fee includes follow-up visits and all surgical supplies, room charges, and anesthesia. Several sessions are required to optimize the result.
Risks:
This surgery is very safe. There are risks associated with any surgical procedure. The risk of infection is controlled with sterile procedures and the use of antibiotics. The risk of bleeding is controlled with careful technique, and aspirin-type medication must be avoided for two weeks prior to surgery. The risk and specific benefit of hair transplantation surgery for your particular problem should be discussed in detail with Dr. Webb.
The Results:
The transplanted hair always grows. The full benefit of hair transplantation is achieved through successive sessions which
increase the density of transplanted hair. The sessions are repeated at intervals of several months.
Other Treatments:
OTC Topical Rogaine and prescription Propecia pills may help to stop hair loss and grow some new hair in certain patients. Research is ongoing for new anti-baldness medications. Flaps and scalp reduction (removal of bald skin) were popular but leave scars and are less commonly performed. There are many useless heavily promoted treatments.
P.C. says “ People don’t realize it’s transplanted hair, and I love not looking bald.”
